still in shock

I called my mom this morning to see how she was holding up. Chicago is getting hammered by a really bad winter storm.
My mom was crying when she answered the phone. My sister died last night.
My sister went to check the mail, something happened and they found her face down in the snow. My mom said that her heart was enlarged from her drinking, so she is guessing.......
I will not be leaving yet. Chicago is closed down, so I can't even get in yet anyway.
Life is what happens while you are busy planning for the future.

Oh, my goodness, Kelli, and she could not have been that old. Oh this is going to be so hard for everyone to accept since she was clearly not old enough to die. I will be thinking about you on your trip, hoping for a safe one. Life is more fragile than we think when we do risky things. I hope you will tell us more about what led up to the death when you find out, as this is a shock to us, too. I know it is for me. My one sister died at 50 and that proved to be way too soon for her daughters and the rest of us. Gerry

This is the time when a friend needs to say SOMETHING, but words are so inadequate. My comment will be ineffectual... 'you might consider staying where you are, as Chicago is probably paralyzed from the sub zero temps and snow/ ice. So sorry for your loss.

Kelli... honey.... wow... that is so hard to wrap your mind around. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. Wish I had money to fly out your way to help with Ryan... or to fly to Chicago to be with you. Purple Michael is in Chicago, do you want me to schedule a time for you to meet him? He would probably sing at the funeral if I asked.... and he's amazing. Know that I am praying for you, that God will take care of every single detailfor you, that you will be able to find safe passage. I love ya girl!

Reading your story, I could feel yet another tug at my heart !!!
Lost my best-friend/dear hubby 21 mos ago, and it only gets a little worse every day !!
Your not alone darlin, for sure !
And what did I do, for 2 full days after losing him, unexpectedly losing him ? Ya, I drank & drank & drank & drank !!!
Well, (21 months less 1 day) since my loss & since my last drink ! If you're wondering how I've made it ?
There's only one answer, 'JC'....
The Son of the living God, has literally carried me every step of every day, never ever leaving or forsaking me, and as a dirty rotten sinner, saved by grace, I'll never betray His love again !

Luv ya & will keep you in my prayers tonight......
Sheila

(If you'd like to write me, please do. I've a story that many have loved & I'll certainly send to you, should you ask !)

God Bless & keep you, safe & secure from all harm.
